the meaning behind the name

GALATEIA; Galathea or Galatea (Ancient Greek: Γαλάτεια; "she who is milk-white,") the "glorious" and "comely", anciently described as the fairest and most beloved.

The Roman poet Ovid, in his Metamorphoses, Book X, relates that Pygmalion, a sculptor, upon the completion of his artwork, falls in love with his own creation as she's the idealized woman, a mirror of Pygmalion's desires. Pygmalion becomes so infatuated with his work that he begins to treat it as if it were a real, sentient being. In a moment of inspiration, he names her Galatea.

The gracious goddess Venus answered his prayers as she transformed the once cold ivory stone to bone and ardent flesh, still completely perfect in her existence.

How long does shipping take?

All original artwork is produced on demand, therefore, please allow up to 10 business days. Additional shipping time begins after this production time, and can be 5-7 business days for domestic ground services. Expected delivery is at least 1-4 weeks depending on artwork type, size, weight, and destination.

Can I return the item I purchased?

Yes. Please contact us first prior to returning your item. Item can generally be returned within 5 days (sculptures & oil paintings), provided it is returned undamaged in original condition and packaging.
